DESIGN AND FABRICATION OF A REVERSIBLE AMPHIBIOUS BICYCLE(AQUACYCLE)
Abstract
ABSTRACT
Amphibious bicycles are innovative modes of transportation designed to operate on water. With
features like inflatable pontoons, sealed PVC pipes, or hydrofoils, these bicycles can float and
propel on water surfaces. The Design and Construction of a Reversible Amphibious Bicycle
(Aquacycle) offers versatility for recreational activities and practical transportation in areas with
water bodies. The aim of this project is to design and fabricate a reversible amphibious bicycle
using locally accessible materials to lower production costs and make it more reasonable for
consumers to purchase. The methodology of this research was centered around various design
aspects, including buoyancy, stability, propulsion, and materials selection. A modular approach
was adopted to allow for easy progression on water, enabling users to float and cycle effortlessly.
Key components, such as the frame, propulsion system, and buoyancy elements, were
meticulously designed and fabricated to ensure durability, efficiency, comfort, and safety. The use
of lightweight and corrosion-resistant materials, such as aluminum alloys and marine-grade
plastics, was incorporated to enhance the bicycle's performance on water. Extensive testing and
evaluation are conducted to assess the water bicycle's functionality, stability, maneuverability, and
ease of use. User feedback and performance data are collected to validate the design and identify
areas for improvement. In conclusion, the outcome of this project is a functional and innovative
reversible Aquacycle that demonstrates the successful integration of water mobility. It presents
numerous opportunities for recreational activities, eco-friendly transportation, and exploration of
aquatic environments as it contributes to the field of amphibious transportation and opens up
possibilities for further advancements in the design and construction of multi-purpose recreational
vehicles.
