Abstract

This study focuses on creating awareness against child labour in Bayelsa State, Nigeria. It examines the causes, prevalence, and effects of child labour on children’s education, health, and overall development. A descriptive survey design was adopted, and data were collected through questionnaires and interviews from selected communities. Findings reveal that poverty, lack of parental education, and weak enforcement of child protection laws are major drivers of child labour. The study concludes that increased awareness and community engagement are essential in combating child labour. It recommends public enlightenment campaigns, improved access to education, and stronger policy implementation.
