Abstract

This study evaluated the serum biochemical indices of Yankasa rams fed locally produced multi-mineral blocks under the semi-arid region of Borno state. The experiment aimed to determine the effects of the supplement on growth performance, physiological responses, and overall health status of the animals. Blood samples were analyzed for key biochemical parameters including total protein, albumin, globulin, glucose, cholesterol, and liver/kidney function indicators. Results showed that the locally formulated mineral block improved nutrient utilization, enhanced biochemical balance, and supported better metabolic functioning. The study concludes that locally produced multi-mineral blocks are effective, affordable, and sustainable supplements for small ruminants in semi-arid regions.‎
