Abstract

This study examined the influence of office technology and management competencies on the administrative performance of Office Information Managers in Oyo State-owned Polytechnics, Nigeria. Guided by the Technology Acceptance Model (Davis, 1986) and Goal Setting Theory (Locke & Latham, 1990), the study measured office technology through perceived usefulness, ease of use, attitude, intention, and system use, while performance was assessed by task completion, work efficiency, quality output, and communication effectiveness. A descriptive survey design was adopted with a sample of 132 respondents selected from four state-owned polytechnics. Data were collected through a validated questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Findings showed that office technology and management competencies significantly enhance administrative performance. The study concludes that effectiveness in polytechnics depends on the combined use of modern technologies and managerial skills, and recommends regular training, ICT-driven communication, and performance-based appraisals.
