ASSESSMENT OF AIR POLLUTION FROM FIVE (5) LOCAL GOVERNMENTS WITHIN OGBOMOSO, OYO STATE
Abstract
The findings from this study align with the objectives by highlighting the prevalence and sources of air pollutants in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, while evaluating their compliance with international regulatory limits. The data showed that multiple pollutants exceeded WHO’s 2021 standards, notably carbon monoxide (CO) and particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10), which were consistently above the limits across all measured locations. CO concentrations, linked to vehicular emissions and combustion activities, were elevated in both urban and semi-urban areas, underscoring the role of transportation and residential energy use as major contributors to air pollution.
