Abstract

ABSTRACT This research work is titled “Effective Communication as a Determinant of Organizational Performance in Adamawa State University Mubi”. For the purpose of this research work, the population is made up of the staffs of Adamawa State University Mubi numbering seven hundred and thirty seven (737). They form the units of analysis of this study and their nature is determined by the survey objective. Data for this research was collected using primary and secondary sources of data. The primary source was the questionnaire, while the secondary source includes text-books and internet. The data used for this study was collected through the questionnaire and interview. For the analysis of data, statistical package for social sciences (SPSS version 16) was used. Correlation and regression were used for the analysis to measure the variance between the observed (the actual field result) and the expected (the hypothesis to arrive at a deduction to valid, or confirmed) result. The findings of the study revealed that strong verbal communication skills will help to encourage essential discussion while playing a major role in bringing people together. Also, nonverbal communication helps us regulate our conversations so we don’t end up constantly interrupting each other or waiting in awkward silences between speaker turns. Therefore, the study recommends among others that effective communication should be done in a language that is commonly understood, written communication should be simple and instructions drafted in such a way that everyone in the organization understands them.
