PROPOSED ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN OF RADIO STATION FOR KASHIM IBRAHIM UNIVERSITY OF MAIDUGURI (TOWARDS ENHANCING ACOUSTIC SYSTEM)
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This study focuses on the proposed architectural design of a radio station for Kashim
Ibrahim University of Maiduguri with the aim of enhancing acoustic performance
for effective broadcasting. The research examines the importance of sound control,
speech intelligibility, and noise management in radio station design, considering the
challenges commonly faced by media houses due to poor acoustic planning. Through
a review of relevant literature on radio broadcasting, architectural acoustics, and
noise control strategies, the study identifies key acoustic problems such as echo,
reverberation, and sound distortion that affect broadcast quality. The project adopts
an architectural approach that integrates appropriate spatial planning, material
selection, and acoustic treatment to improve sound clarity and audibility within
broadcasting spaces. The proposed design accommodates essential functional areas
including studios, control rooms, administrative offices, and supporting facilities,
while emphasizing acoustic efficiency and operational effectiveness. The study is
significant as it contributes to the development of a functional and acoustically
efficient broadcasting facility that will enhance communication, information
dissemination, and community engagement within Kashim Ibrahim University of
Maiduguri and its surrounding environment.
