Abstract

This study was designed to determine the antibacterial efficacy of Jatropha tanjorensis and Piper guineense against some selected pathogenic bacteria; Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas spp., and Escherichia coli. The biochemical characterization confirmed that Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa were test organisms. Antibacterial sensitivity were tested using agar well diffusion method. Samples of the plants were diluted serially to concentrations of 100mg, 50mg, 25mg and 12.5mg. All the organisms were 100% sensitive to the ethanol extract of Jatropha fanjorensis at 100mg and 50mg, but Pseudomonas spp resistant at 25mg and 12.5mg. while ethanol extract of Piper guineense was 100% sensitive against all the test
