CREATIVE HOSPITALITY; A CATALYST FOR SUSTAINABLE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT IN LOKOJA, KOGI STATE

The hospitality industry plays a crucial role in economic growth by fostering development through job creation, revenue generation, and tourism promotion. In recent years, the concept of "Creative Hospitality" has emerged as an innovative approach that integrates creativity, sustainability, and community engagement to enhance the industry’s impact. This study examined the role of creative hospitality as a catalyst for sustainable economic development in Lokoja”. The specific objectives of the study is to assess the current state of the hospitality industry in Lokoja and its contribution to economic development. The data for the research work was collected from primary and secondary sources. One hundred and four (104) was distributed out of which 102 was retrieved and used for the study. It was revealed from the study that hospitality industry in Lokoja contributes to the economic development of the state. It was observed from the study that these current states of the hospitality industry in Lokoja boost their service delivery. It was discovered from the study that hospitality industry in Lokoja practice creative hospitality. The study shows that the various creative practices currently used in the hospitality sector are effective. Based on the findings of this study, it is therefore recommended that; Hotel owners should invest in training and development programs to upskill local residents. By building a skilled local workforce, hotels can reduce their dependence on migrant labor and ensure consistent staffing levels.
