INVESTIGATING THE MINERAL CONTENT OF DOUM PALM FRUIT (HYPHAENE THEBAICA)
Abstract
Abstract
This study investigates the mineral content of Doum palm fruit (Hyphaene thebaica), focusing on its potential nutritional benefits. Using standardized analytical techniques, we quantified the levels of calcium, copper, potassium, and sodium present in the fruit. The results indicated a high concentration of potassium, which is essential for cardiovascular health, alongside notable levels of calcium, contributing to bone health. Copper, an important trace mineral, was also detected, playing a crucial role in various physiological functions. Sodium levels were measured to assess the fruit's contribution to dietary intake. Overall, the findings highlight Doum palm fruit as a promising source of essential minerals, suggesting its potential as a dietary supplement to enhance nutrition, especially in regions with limited dietary diversity. Future research should explore the bioavailability of these minerals and their implications for health.
