Abstract

1.1 Background to the Study Efficient health communication is essential for both individual and societal well-being (Naveena, 2015). It plays a pivotal role in advancing public health, reducing healthcare disparities, and fostering trust between healthcare providers and patients (Loeb et al., 2018). In today's intricate society, the media, as society's guardian, bears the responsibility of enhancing public health standards by delivering clear and pertinent health information (Mbaka, 2013). Communication lies at the heart of social development and behavioral change, influencing attitudes and actions (Ndolo, 2005). Mass media platforms, encompassing television, radio, newspapers, and online channels, are extensively utilized in public health endeavors to educate, inform, and persuade individuals (Daniel, 2011). Social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram have transformed health communication by engaging younger demographics and enabling healthcare professionals to provide real-time information and support (Daramola, 2003). Studies indicate that interventions through social media can lead to early disease detection and encourage healthy behaviors (Al-Dmour et al., 2020; Appel et al., 2020; Naslund et al., 2020; Webb et al., 2010). Society relies heavily on effective communication, with social media platforms being pivotal in disseminating various information, including health-related content. Advocacy groups leverage social media to raise awareness and advocate for improved healthcare access (Anand et al., 2013). Health communication campaigns on social media platforms have the potential to rapidly and widely spread messages promoting behavior change (Parker and Thorson, 2009; Anand et al., 2013).
