Abstract

ABSTRACT The research work was carried out to determine the impact of quarryng activites at IBD Impex limited in Ekiti state on soil qualty and the environment. Soil samples were collected from four locations and the control samples was collected far away from the site. The soil samples were taken at different depths to adequately observe the physico chemical effect of the soil and compare their level of contamination. The samples were analysed for the presence of some heavy metals such as As, Cd, Cu, Pb Zn. The samples were analysed using atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS); and the pH of each samples was determined with a pH meter in accordance with ASTMD4972, Electrical conductivity was measured in ratio of 1 5 age soil to a water suspension using a 3 way meter. The result obtained were compared with the WHO (2020) standard and this showed that the level of heavy metals and the physcio chemical parameters obtained were lower than the WHO standard which implies that they are good for agricultural produces.
