EXAMINING THE ANTIPLASMODIAL EFFECT OF PALISOTII FERN ON SERUM ALT OF PLASMODIUM BERGHEL INFECTED MICE
Abstract
Plasmodium falciparum the type of malaria that most often causes and life- threatening
malaria; this parasite is very common in many counties in Africa south of the Sahara
desert, people who are heavily exposed to the bites of mosquitoes infected with
p.falcuiparum are most at risk of dying from malaria .people who have little or no
immunity to malaria, such as young children and pregnant women or travelers coming
from area with no malaria, are more likely to become very sick and die. Poor people
living in rural areas who lack access to health care are at greater risk for this disease.as a
result of all these factors, an estimated 90% of deaths due to malaria occur in Africa
south of the Sahara; most of these death occur in children under 5 years of age .this study
is to examine the also start the first litter in upper left antiplasmodail effect of arthropteris
palisotii on serum ALT selected and share into 5 group each; (A,B,C,D and E). Group A
served as normal control, mice chive this sentence are refrad chow and water, group B
mice chow and water plus plasmodium Bergheim, group C plasmodium Bergheim plus
5mg/kg body weight artesunate, group D were infected with plasmodium use berghei
plus 200mg/kg body weight of arthropteris leaf extract and treated with infected with
plus feed while group F were plasmodium berghei and treated with 100mg/kg body
weight of arthropteris palisoti leaf extract. At the end of the feeding the rat were
sacrificed and blood sample were collected via cardiac puncture and transferred into a
container. Centrifuge using blood centrifuge at 300rpm for 15 minutes. The samples were
taken for chemical analysis. In regard to dose levels-low does (LD), medium dose MD,
high does (HD) were administered at 100mg/kg, and 400mg/kg respectively. These were
compared against a standard drugs group. (artesunate, 5mg/kg ), a negative control, and a
normal control. The result indicate a dose –dependent effect on ALT levels.
