EVALUATING SOME HAEMATOLOGICAL INDICES IN SOCIALLY ISOLATED MICE
Abstract
ABSTRACT
This study investigated the ef ects of social isolation on haematological indices in mice, withparticular attention to parameters linked to stress and depression. Social isolation has beenwidely associated with immune dysregulation, oxidative stress, and mood disorders, but itshaematological implications remain underexplored. The general objective of this work wastoevaluate some haematological indices in socially isolated mice. A total of healthy micewererandomly assigned to isolated and non-isolated groups and maintained under standardlaboratory conditions, after which blood samples were collected for haematological analysisusing an automated hematology analyzer. Results revealed that WBC and PLT showedminornon-significant dif erences between isolated and non-isolated groups, suggesting relativestability in immunity and anti-inflammatory functions. This finding highlight that short-termsocial isolation may not strongly alter some haematological indices. The study concludes that
haematological indices, particularly WBC and PLT subsets, may serve as valuable biomarkersinevaluating the physiological ef ects of social isolation and depression-like conditions. Keywords: WBC, PLT, depression, social isolation, stress, hematology, immunity.
