Abstract

This project title “Design and Construction of A 0-24v Rechargeable Bench Power Supply System” The specific objectives of the study are to:, to design a step-down and rectification stage to convert AC mains to DC voltage suitable for regulation, to implement a variable voltage regulation circuit capable of outputting voltages between 0 and 24 volts, integrate a rechargeable battery system to allow for off-grid or portable operation, incorporate a digital display system (e.g., digital voltmeter) for real-time voltage output monitoring, and test the power supply under various loads to evaluate voltage stability, efficiency, and battery runtime. The methodology section outlines the systematic process used in designing and constructing the 0–24V rechargeable DC bench power supply. It includes the planning, theoretical formulation, hardware selection, circuit design, construction, and testing stages. The performance of the power supply was evaluated through various tests to assess its voltage regulation, efficiency, battery runtime, and protection mechanisms. The results are presented in tabular and graphical formats, followed by a detailed analysis and discussion. The power supply was tested under different conditions to evaluate its performance against the stated objectives. The tests included voltage regulation accuracy, load response, battery runtime, and protection feature effectiveness. Below are the results. It was recommendations that replace the LM317 linear regulator with a switching regulator to improve efficiency, especially at lower output voltages, reducing power dissipation and heat generation. This would enhance performance for high-current applications but requires careful consideration of cost and complexity, add an adjustable current-limiting circuit to provide precise control over output current, enhancing protection for sensitive loads and improving versatility and consider using a higher-capacity battery or a modular battery system to extend runtime for prolonged off-grid use, particularly for higher loads.
