This project is titled “Impact of Labour Union activities on Industrial Harmony in the Public Sector (A case study of F.M.C Mubi, Adamawa State)”. The main objectives of this study are centered on understanding the role and impact of labour unions in promoting industrial harmony within the public sector, specifically in FMC Mubi. Firstly, the study seeks to examine the nature and various types of labour union activities carried out in FMC Mubi, including their operational strategies and functions within the institution. Secondly, it aims to identify the major causes of industrial disputes that arise between labour unions and hospital management, with a focus on recurring issues and areas of conflict. Thirdly, the study intends to analyze the key challenging factors that hinder the effectiveness of labour unions in promoting industrial harmony within the public sector environment. Finally, it aims to propose practical strategies and well-informed recommendations for improving labour-management relations and fostering sustainable industrial peace in the public healthcare system. Data was collected using both the primary and secondary sources of data collection. The data collected was analyzed using the mean statistical tool of data analysis. The population of the research work comprises of all the 230 staffs of FMC Mubi Adamawa State. The study on the "Impact of Labour Union Activities on Industrial Harmony in the Public Sector: A Case Study of FMC Mubi, Adamawa State" examined the critical role of labour unions in shaping industrial relations within public healthcare institutions. It found that unions at FMC Mubi are actively involved in collective bargaining, staff advocacy, and other efforts aimed at improving worker welfare and workplace conditions. However, their effectiveness is hindered by issues such as delayed implementation of agreements, poor communication, inadequate resources, political interference, and internal union rivalries. These challenges have contributed to persistent industrial disputes that negatively affect healthcare delivery. The study concludes that achieving sustainable industrial harmony requires improved dialogue between labour and management, institutional support for union functions, timely resolution of grievances, and a collaborative effort among all stakeholders. Based on these findings, the study recommends proactive communication, prompt implementation of agreements, improved working conditions, capacity building for both union leaders and managers, reduced political interference, stronger union unity, the creation of dedicated grievance units, and regular policy reviews to ensure a harmonious and efficient public healthcare system.
