Abstract

The goal of this study was to evaluate how well the Calabar Carnival in Cross River State promoted culture and tourism. Three (3) objectives and three (3) research questions were developed to accomplish the goal of this study. The literature in this area was examined. The research design for the study was survey. Selection of the works and respondents for the study was done using simple random and purposeful sampling. The tool utilized to collect data was a questionnaire. The outcome of the data analysis revealed a significant connection between the Calabar Carnival and cultural tourism. Based on these conclusions, the researcher suggested, among other things, that Nigeria may have already begun the process of economic diversification from an oil-driven economy to an econonty that will be driven by ecological and cultural tourism in the future with events like the Calabar Carnival. There are suggestions made to strengthen the tourism sector, notably in the areas of security and privatization for faster growth
