SENSOR BASED EXAMINATION MALPRACTICE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
Abstract
Examination malpractice remains a major challenge in Nigeria’s educational system, undermining the credibility of academic qualifications and the moral standards of students. With the advent of modern technology, cheating has advanced from simple impersonation to the use of electronic gadgets such as smartphones, smartwatches, and Bluetooth headsets, enabling covert communication during exams. This has necessitated innovative, technology-driven measures to uphold academic integrity.
This project introduces a Sensor-Based Examination Malpractice Management System (SBEMMS) — a hardware solution designed to detect unauthorized electronic devices within examination halls. Using Radio Frequency (RF) sensing technology, the system combines the AD8307 RF logarithmic detector and ESP8266 microcontroller to monitor and identify active RF signals in real time. Upon detection, it triggers visual and auditory alerts to notify invigilators, ensuring immediate intervention.
The system integrates sensing, signal processing, and alert modules within a portable cubicle positioned at exam hall entry points. Testing demonstrated 92% detection accuracy,
