Abstract

Payroll management is a core function in organizational administration, ensuring accurate, timely, and transparent employee compensation. Traditional manual payroll systems—often dependent on spreadsheets or handwritten records—are prone to errors, delays, inefficiency, and data security vulnerabilities. To address these challenges, this project presents the design and implementation of a Simple Payroll System with a Dynamic Tax Bracket, developed using PHP with Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), MySQL Database, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, Ajax, and Bootstrap. The system is deployed on XAMPP (PHP v8.0.7) and supports robust Create, Read, Update, and Delete (CRUD) operations for managing departments, designations, employees, and tax bracket configurations. Payroll computation is executed on either monthly or semi-monthly schedules, with automated tax deduction calculations based on predefined tax tables. The system generates secure, printable payslips, enforces authentication through login/logout protocols, and provides a simple yet intuitive user interface. Although attendance tracking is excluded, the platform supports manual entry of employee earnings and deductions. By combining modern web technologies with dynamic tax computation, this project highlights the potential of web-based applications to streamline payroll processes, minimize human error, improve data integrity, and enhance organizational efficiency in both educational and enterprise contexts.
