Abstract

The installation of a solar photovoltaic system was preferred over the grid power system because it is cost effective and eco-Iriendly. This study focused on the design and installation ofa 1.7Kva stand-alone photovoltaic solar power system. Numerical approaches were used lo optimize the hourly recorded weather and demand load data suing MATLAB. A market Survey was carried out to determine the cost of designing and installing a 1.7Kva photovoltaic solar system. A mono crystalline py module was the best choice. During supply. determining the system size which includes sizing of the panels, battery bank, charge controller, inverter and choosing the of electric cables to wire were taken into consideration, After the analysis and design, the installation process was done. Solar panels were mounted for charge regulations. Connection of the battery bank to the inverter for conversion of DC to AC which was further connected to the output unit (0 power supply to faculty of Engineering. The system was operational and (he results were satisfactory. Delay in electricity supply during working hours is 4 major reason for the use of solar photovoltaic system. The present work aims to address the issue of delayed electricity supply.
