PREDICTED AND CONSERVED RNA STRUCTURE IN THE 3'UTR REGION OF ALL NINE SEROTYPES OF “ENTEROVIRUS A” SPECIES AFFECTING MAN
Abstract
approximately 7500 nucleotides in length, (+) positive single stranded RNA genome, Enterovirus A is a genus of virus under the family of Picornaviridae, Enterovirus A consist of 25 serotypes in which 9 affects human which are EV-71, EV-76, EV-A89, EV-A90, EV-A91, EV-A114, EV-A119, EV-A120 and EV-A71. Enterovirus A is known to caused mild to severe diseases to infant and young children with that the research is set out to use bioinformatics tools to predict conserved nucleotide sequence in the 3'UTR region of all nine serotypes of Enterovirus A, thus identifying and fully understanding the role of conserved RNA sequence within the 3'UTR region of the 9 serotypes of enterovirus A will aid medical research by assessing the risk of disease caused by Enterovirus A serotypes. This research has shown predicted secondary structures for the 3’UTR for the 9 serotypes of Enterovirus A. Through sequences alignment has shown presences of weak conservation, it also predicts presences of conserved sequence at the 3'UTR through pairwise and group alignment that compares the similarities between sequences. Also predicts restriction enzymes that can cut through this region for the 9 serotypes affecting human. Through protein analysis, it also predicts to know if there is or not presence of functional coding protein at the studied region. Further research on this region will heighten and shade light in the development of antiviral-drug and prophylaxis that antagonizes Enteroviral infection.
