Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of Moringa oleifera on corneal inflammation in rabbits. The 8 New Zealand rabbits were divided into two groups. Group A been the experimental group and group B the control group. The rabbits were incised on the cornea and observed for the severity of inflammation (0-4 i.e. mild- very severe) after which the rabbis in group A were treated with moringa oleifera extract. Results showed that moringa oleifera leaf extract had significant anti-inflammatory effects on the cornea. This study utilized an experimental study design. A paired sample t test was conducted to compare the Severity of corneal inflammation for group A and group B. There were significant differences (t (63) = 1.63 , p= 0.107 ) in the scores with mean score for group A (x̅=0.52, SD=0.73) was higher than group B (x̅=0.31, SD=0.69). The magnitude of the differences in the means (mean difference =0.21, 95% confidence interval where
