THE ACCOUNTING SYSTEM AND REVENUE GENERATION IN ADAMAWA STATE
Abstract
Abstract
This study investigates the relationship between accounting systems and revenue generation in Adamawa State. The study aims to determine how effective accounting systems contribute to improved revenue collection, accountability, transparency, and financial management in the public sector. Data for the study were collected through questionnaires, interviews, and secondary sources such as government financial records and textbooks. The findings revealed that efficient accounting systems enhance revenue generation by reducing fraud, improving record keeping, and promoting accountability. The study also identified challenges such as inadequate skilled personnel, poor internal controls, corruption, and lack of modern accounting technology. Recommendations were made for the adoption of computerized accounting systems, regular staff training, and stronger internal control measures to improve revenue generation in Adamawa State.
