BIOMETRIC EXAM MALPRACTICE DETECTION SYSTEM
Abstract
Abstract
In a tertiary institution, the issue of authentication and access control can never be overemphasized. Several research works has being carried out and implemented in this area, especially in the first world countries but obviously in third word country like our (Nigeria) students authentication especially in the Exam hall is still a brick proving difficult to crack. Most of the documentation and accessing of students records are done manually. Though some of the tertiary institutions have gone partially online, the access control is still a concern as the methods in place is not very secured and not efficient.
This research apprises the various existing access control systems in use but dwell more on the use of BIOMETRIC access control system with the aim of producing a system that will detect exam malpractice by taking a finger print of the students when they get admission and every time they are taking exam, it compares the DNA profile of the person that is entering the exam hall against its stored profile. The scope of the work encompasses all the student records which is used both at the departmental level to check impersonation and malpractices during examination and at the student results record. The research was implemented using VB 6.0.
