THE EFFECT OF ETHANOLIC LEAF EXTRACT OF CRASSULACEA AND BISOPROLOL ON ANTIOXIDANT MARKER IN DOXOROBOSIN INDUCED CARDIOTOXICITY
Abstract
The study aim to evaluate the effect of ethanolic leaf extract of crassulacea and bisoprolol on
antioxidant marker in doxorobosin induced cardiotoxicity. 35 wistar rats of both sexes were
randomly divided into five group containing seven (7) each. Group [ the control group, Group II
doxorubicin group. Group I Crassulaceae, Group 1V doxorubicin + Crassulaceae, Group V:
Doxorobicin + Bisoprolol. All the animal were allowed feed and water at will. Group [ is the
control group. Group Il was administered with 50mg/kg body weight of doxorubicin, Group Il
was administered with ethanolic extract of craculacea 600mg/kg body weight, Group IV was
administered Doxorobicin 50mg/kg body weight + ethanolic extract of craculecea 600mg/kg body
weight, Group V was administered Doxorobicin 50mg/kg body weight + Bisoprolol 50mg/kg. the
experiment lasted for 28 days. At the end of the 28 days, the animal were taken to the lab and they
were sacrificed. Blood was gotten through cardiac puncture and centrifuged. Serum was collected
for laboratory analysis of Superoxide Dismutase (SOD), Malondialdehyde (MDA), and
Glutathione Peroxidase (GPX). The result revealed that serum SOD showed a significant [ower
