Abstract

This Research was embarked on consequent upon the fact that there was no Warp Drum and Creel for a proper preparatory process to prepare yarns for the existing floor loom in the Textile Unit. The wooden warp/creel drum was constructed with Red wood. It consisted of the counting device, least rope, beam ruler, creel, bubble container, picking rib, guarding rib and winder. This Research Project “Construction of Warp Drum and Creel for a Standard Floor Loom” represents a significant aspect of floor loom design and operation. This abstract provides an overview of the key components, assembly techniques, and considerations involved in building an efficient and functional warp drum and creel system for a floor loom. The warp drum serves as a pivotal component in maintaining consistent tension and controlling the warp thread supply during the weaving process. It is typically made of metal or solid wood and must be precisely engineered to ensure smooth rotation while accommodating a range of warp thread lengths. The design and construction of the warp drum involved aspects such as diameter selection, attachment mechanisms, and methods for ensuring consistent tension. The creel, on the other hand, functions as a support structure for the warp yarn packages and facilitates their organized feeding onto the warp drum. The creel incorporates features such as adjustable pegs or rods to accommodate various yarn package sizes, a study frame for stability, and a mechanism for easy threading and tension adjustments. This project has ultimately provided a means of smooth working for the weaving process and made the floor loom more functional and cloth production on the loom smoother and easier.
