Abstract

ABSTRACT This study explores the potential of Chloris breviseta, a plant known for its bioactive compounds, as a green corrosion inhibitor for mild steel. The methanolic extract of Chloris breviseta is investigated to assess its ability to protect mild steel from corrosion. Surface analysis techniques, including Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (EDX), are employed to examine the surface morphology and elemental composition of mild steel samples before and after treatment with the extract. SEM provides detailed images of the surface and EDX offers localized elemental analysis. The goal is to determine the effectiveness of the extract in inhibiting corrosion and to understand the mechanisms through which it provides protection, offering a sustainable alternative to conventional inhibitors."
