Abstract

ABSTRACT This project report presents the design and fabrication of a robotic arm for educational demonstration aimed at developing a cost-effective, user-friendly, and functional system to facilitate hands-on learning in robotics and automation. The research addresses the limitations of complex and expensive conventional robotic arms by employing readily available materials, an Arduino-based control system, and 3D printing using Polylactic Acid (PLA). The methodology involved an extensive literature review, computer-aided design with SolidWorks, kinematic analysis using Denavit-Hartenberg parameters, and torque and inertia calculations to inform component selection. Fabrication was achieved through 3D printing and standard assembly techniques while programming and control were implemented via the Arduino IDE with wireless Bluetooth interfacing. Functionality, response, and load tests were conducted to evaluate performance, with response times ranging from 1.7 to 2.8 seconds and load stability maintained up to moderate weights of about 35 grams. The findings demonstrate that the prototype successfully executes pick-and-place operations with adequate precision and reliability, implying that such low-cost robotics can effectively enhance practical learning and bridge the gap between theoretical concepts and real-world application in educational environments.
