IMPACT OF JOB SATISFACTION ON EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE IN NIGERIAN MANUFACTURING COMPANIES
Abstract
Job satisfaction is crucial not just for the employee but for employers as well. The study examines the impact of job satisfaction on employee performance in Nigerian
manufacturing companies. The objectives of the study are to examine the impact of job satisfaction on employee commitment and employee productivity in Coca-Cola
Nigeria. A descriptive research design was employed, and a target population of 200 respondents was used, from which a sample size of 133 was chosen using yaro
yamane, regression statistical analysis was used to test the formulated hypotheses. The results revealed that job satisfaction has a significant impact on employee
commitment. Employees who are satisfied with their jobs—due to factors such as recognition, supportive leadership, and conducive work environments—
demonstrate higher levels of loyalty and emotional attachment to the organization. Additionally, the study found that job satisfaction significantly influences
employee productivity. Satisfied employees are more motivated, engaged, and willing to go above and beyond in their roles. The study concluded that job
satisfaction is not a singular construct but a multidimensional one, encompassing emotional, psychological, and practical aspects of the work experience. The study
Coca-Cola Nigeria should ensure that its compensation packages are competitive and reflective of employee contributions.
