Abstract

ABSTRACT This study investigated the impact of media instructional resources on senior secondary students’ academic achievement in physics in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State. This study was guided by two research questions and two hypotheses. The research design was quasi experimental research design. The population was nine hundred and sixty-two (962) SS2 Physics students in the sixteen (16) public secondary schools in the study area. The sample of the study was (95) students, (56-Male and 39-Female) in their intact classes from two (2) public schools drawn using simple random sampling technique. The instrument titled Physics Achievement Test (PAT) was used for data collection. The instrument was validated by a Physics expert and a reliability coefficient of 0.76 was established using Kuder Richardson Reliability formula 20(KR20). Mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions while the hypotheses were tested using independent t-test statistics at 0.05 level of significance. The study revealed among others that there is significance difference in the mean performance score of physics students taught“wave” using instructional technique and those taught using conventional teaching method. Based on the findings, it was recommended that the government and educational administrators should provide important and necessary media instructional resources to Physics teachers for effective teaching of the subject gears towards
