Abstract

This project presents the design, construction, and implementation of a 5kVA solar power system aimed at providing a reliable and sustainable alternative to conventional electricity supply. The study focuses on the selection and sizing of key system components, including solar panels, inverter, charge controller, battery bank, and protective devices. Load assessment was carried out to determine the total power requirement, which guided the system configuration and capacity planning. The construction phase involved proper installation of photovoltaic modules, wiring, battery integration, and inverter setup to ensure efficient energy conversion and storage. The implemented system was tested under varying load conditions to evaluate its performance, efficiency, and reliability. Results showed that the 5kVA solar power system effectively supplied stable power to residential and small-scale commercial loads while reducing dependence on grid electricity and fossil fuel generators. The study concludes that solar energy systems of this capacity are cost-effective, environmentally friendly, and suitable for addressing power supply challenges, especially in areas with unstable electricity supply. Recommendations were made for proper maintenance, system expansion, and improved energy management to enhance long-term performance.
