Abstract

ABSTRACT This project presents the design and implementation of a solar tracking system that uses two light sensors to track the sun's position and adjust the solar panels' angle accordingly. The system's main goal is to maximize the efficiency of the solar panels by keeping them perpendicular to the sun's rays throughout the day. The solar tracking system consists of two main parts: the mechanical structure and the electronic control circuit. The mechanical structure includes a sturdy frame that holds the solar panels and a single-axis mechanism that rotates the panels to track the sun's position. The electronic control circuit includes a microcontroller that reads the sensor data, calculates the optimal panel angle, and controls the motor that rotates the panels. The system's performance was evaluated by comparing the power output of the solar panels with and without the solar tracking system. The results show that the solar tracking system can increase the power output by up to 30% on a sunny day compared to a fixed panel setup. The solar tracking system can be used in various applications, such as residential and commercial solar power systems. It offers a cost-effective solution for improving the efficiency of solar power generation, thus reducing the reliance on fossil fuels and contributing to a more sustainable energy future.
