ASSESSING THE PERCEPTION OF STUDENTS IN FEDERAL COLLEGE OF FORESTRY JOS ON THE ROLE OF METEOROLOGICAL STATION IN CLIMATE CHANGE MITIGATION
Abstract
This study explores the awareness and perception of 284 random students at the Federal College of Forestry (FCF), Jos regarding the value of meteorological stations in tackling climate change. Analyzed via SPSS 23, results indicate that while 80.3% grasp that human activities cause climate change, 44.7% remain unfamiliar with its wider implications. Furthermore, 79.6% utilize meteorological data for studies, but they predominantly recognize it only for weather forecasting. The paper advises implementing dedicated educational campaigns and integrating meteorological modules directly into the forestry curriculum.
