INVESTIGATION OF THE LOCAL FABRICATION OF A HYDRAULIC BENCH PRESS USING A HYDRAULIC JACK
Abstract
The study investigated the local fabrication of a hydraulic bench press using a hydraulic jack. The project involved the design, fabrication and performance evaluation of the equipment using locally sourced materials, particularly mild steel. The hydraulic bench press was developed to provide an affordable and readily available alternative to imported equipment used in dental technology laboratories. The fabricated machine consists of components such as the frame, cylinder mounting table, press pin, working table, hydraulic tank and hand lever. Performance evaluation showed that the machine effectively carried out pressing and bending operations. The study concluded that hydraulic bench presses can be successfully fabricated locally using available materials while maintaining functionality, durability and efficiency.
