Abstract

In her 55years of existence as a sovereign state, Nigeria has encountered many challenging security issues ranging from traditional security to human security. Drug counterfeiting has especially remained one of the obstinate human security issues facing the country today, and it stings so badly, causing untimely death to hundreds at a go. debilitating the economy and negatively affecting Nigeria's foreign affairs. Even with its extreme effects though, drug counterfeit is regarded as a cliché or a rather less important topic. However, this work extensively buttresses the impact of Drug counterfeiting on the Nigerian economy. It further goes on to appraise the efforts carried out by the drug regulatory agency in Nigeria, NAFDAC and how it has actively fought to combat the issue till date.
