Abstract

This research examines The Impact of Strategic Planning on Organizational Performance, a case study of School of Nursing, Bida. The specific objectives of the study are: to examine the relationship between strategic planning and organizational performance in the School of Nursing, Bida; to identify the key factors that influence the effectiveness of strategic planning in driving organizational performance; and to investigate how strategic planning influences decision-making and resource allocation in the institution. The study employed both primary and secondary data sources. Primary data were collected through the use of structured questionnaires and interviews, while secondary data were obtained from published books, journals, institutional records, and official reports. A stratified random sampling technique was used to select respondents from different categories of staff to ensure fair representation. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics to establish patterns and relationships. The findings reveal that strategic planning has a significant positive relationship with organizational performance, particularly when staff participation, leadership commitment, resource availability, and monitoring mechanisms are ensured. It also highlights that strategic planning improves decision-making, enhances effective resource allocation, and fosters accountability within the School. The study concludes that strategic planning is a vital tool for achieving sustainable growth, efficiency, and improved service delivery in educational institutions such as the School of Nursing, Bida. After findings has been analyzed, the following recommendations were made; a performance feedback mechanism should be established so that results of strategic planning efforts are communicated to staff and students, thereby fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. The School should benchmark its performance against similar institutions, both nationally and regionally, to assess how effectively its strategic planning translates into improved performance outcomes.
