Abstract

Histology tissue processing solutions,a vital component of the histopathology workflow, may contain chemicals that can be toxic or irritating t o the skin, respiratory system, or other organs. The study was aimed at evaluating the histomorphology changes in the adrenal gland of albino rat exposed to histology tissue processing solution. A total of 24 adult rat, and apparently healthy rats weighing 130-160g were used for the study. Histopathological analysis was carried out on the tissue sections of the lungs. The tissue slides were stained with hematoxylin and eosin staining technique for microscopic visualization. The weight of the control rats was compared with the test rats and results obtained were expressed a s mean + SD. Data obtained from the study were analyzed using independent sample t-test and one-way analysis of variance which was used to compare mean, values and considered significant a t p0.05. The weight results indicated that exposure to histology tissue processing solution had varying eftects on body weight among the rats with group A showing an increase, group B experiencing a slight decrease and group C recording the highest increase suggesting duration and intensity of exposure may influence weight change with a significant difference (p
