Abstract

This project aimed to design and implement an android ping pong communication transceiver system using the ESP32 micro-controller. The main objectives were to enable voice communication over the 2.4 GHz ISM band without relying on cellular networks, integrate GPS (Global Positioning System) based location tracking, provide a user-friendly touchscreen interface, and ensure low-latency performance suitable for campus coordination, emergency response, or outdoor activities. To achieve these objectives, the system combined hardware and software innovations. Audio input was captured using an INMP441 MEMS microphone and output through a MAX98357A Class-D amplifier, while a GY-GPS6MV2 module provided location data. A 2.8-inch TFT touchscreen served as the user interface. Audio was sampled at 8 kHz with 24-bit depth using the I²S interface, and transmission was handled through ESP-NOW with a dual-buffer architecture on the ESP32’s dual-core processor to minimize latency. The device was powered by a rechargeable 3.7V lithium-ion battery with integrated monitoring, and programming was carried out in C/C++ using Arduino IDE with relevant libraries for peripheral control and communication. Testing demonstrated that the system successfully supported peer-to-peer voice communication with latency below 10 milliseconds, GPS location accuracy within 2.5 meters, and operational range extending several hundred meters in open space. The project validated effective integration of digital audio processing, real-time wireless communication, and embedded system design, highlighting the practical potential of micro-controller based solutions for portable communication in areas where conventional networks are unavailable.
