FOOD APP USING REACT NATIVE AND FIREBASE
Abstract
The food industry has witnessed significant digital transformation with the advent of online food ordering and delivery applications. These applications provide convenience, efficiency, and accessibility for customers while also enhancing business operations for restaurants and food vendors. The growing reliance on mobile and web technologies has led to the development of various food apps that streamline food ordering, improve customer experience, and optimize service delivery. React, a JavaScript library for building user interfaces, and Firebase, a Backend-as-a-Service (BaaS) platform, offer a powerful combination for developing scalable and responsive food applications. This study focuses on the development of a food app utilizing React for the front-end and Firebase for real-time database management, authentication, and cloud functions.
1.2 Problem Statement
In Joseph Ayo Babalola University (JABU) and many other private universities, students face challenges in accessing food services efficiently. Traditional methods of ordering food involve long queues, lack of menu visibility, and delays in service delivery. Without a digital food ordering system, students must rely on physical visits to cafeterias, which often leads to time wastage, congestion, and dissatisfaction. The absence of a food ordering application in the school environment limits the convenience and accessibility of food services, most especially during peak hours.
Based on my recent research into previous designs and projects, such as the one by Akanle Naomi with the matric number 2003030050, I have identified several shortcomings that have contributed to the persistence of this problem. These shortcomings include:
