DESIGN AND FABRICATION OF GROUNDNUT SHELLING MACHINE
Abstract
In Nigeria, groundnut production and processing contributes massively to her Gross Domestic Product (GDP) as the groundnut is a major utility crop in view of the fact that all parts cat serve various purposes from being edible to being a raw material for commercial and economical operations. As of 2020 according to the FAOSTAT, United States. Nigeria produced 4.5 million tons of groundnut per annual, considering this sizable figure, production and processing has to be top- notch, regrettably as a result of obsolete methods of processing such as manual or traditional deshelling of groundnut, inferior groundnut shellers, and costly status of the foreign machinery this process can become a hassle, affecting the total output and production rates in turn affecting the peasant farmers, commercialist and overall the nations GDP negatively. This study employs the use of CAD, material selection, basic physics such as power, force, speed, motion, and engineering practices such as welding,
fabrication and
motorizing the design(with 1HP electric motor). Following the completion of study a safe and cost efficient groundnut shelling machine with sufficient output was the end product. In conclusion if the output is ample peasant farmers and commercialist profit resulting in a significant increase in the nations GDP.
