Abstract
Abstract
This study explores the role of cooperative societies in housing delivery with a case study of the Senior Staff Welfare Society at the Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria. The research examines the socio-economic characteristics of cooperative members, their use of cooperative funds, and the extent to which the cooperative society has contributed to housing development. A total of 200 questionnaires were administered, and 160 were retrieved for analysis. Key findings reveal that most members have benefitted significantly from the cooperative society, especially in housing development projects, though challenges such as high-interest rates, bureaucratic processes, and limited loan amounts were identified. Recommendations include improving management practices, increasing funding, and enhancing member participation to ensure sustainable housing delivery.
