“AN INTERACTIVE SIMULATION PLATFORM FOR UNDERSTANDING AND VISUALIZING LAN, WAN, AND PEER TO PEER NETWORKS”
Abstract
Abstract
This project presents the development of an interactive simulation platform designed to enhance the
understanding and visualization of local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN) and peer-to-peer
(P2P) network models. The aim was to address the limitation of traditional, theory-based teaching
methods by providing a hands-on, visual learning tool that supports real time interaction with core
networking concepts. The system was developed using HTM, CSS, and TypeScript to implement a
modular, responsive interface. The platform integrates component such as local network scanner,
dynamic simulation engine, visualization tools, and an AI-powered chatbox to guide users and explain
simulation behaviors. It enabales users to configure devices, observe data flows, and experience the
performance impact of bandwidth, latency, throughout and packet loss across different network
models. The expected result is fully functional educational platform that improves user engagement and
comprehension by bridging the gap between theoretical networking principles and real-world
application through interactive, visual simulations.
