INFLUENCE OF EFFICIENT MANAGEMENT OF MATERIALS IN ACHIEVING ORGANISATIONAL PROFITABILITY (A STUDY OF INTERNATIONAL BREWERIES PLC, ILESHA, OSUN STATE)

Materials management is a concept which brings together under one management responsibility for determining the manufacturing requirements scheduling the manufacturing process procuring storing and dispensing materials wide. This study therefore was carried out to determine materials management has a tool towards organisational profitability (using IBC, Nig. Ltd. Ilesha as a case study). The objectives were: to examine the relationship between stores control and organisational profitability to operate cost in an organisation's productivity. The data required for the study was gathered through the administration of structured questionnaire. A total of 137 questionnaires were administered out of which 87 were returned of analysis give at a response rate of 100% chi-square was used to test the hypothesis. Findings were made and they include: materials management was viewed as something that advocates assigning to a single operating department. All major activities which contribute to the cost of materials, it was recommended that: material management should be made a compulsory seminar for all employees and workers and there should be practical equipping individuals with skills knowledge and work habit to be able to effectively make use of resources. The contribution to knowledge is that area of study, also the study serves as addition to existing literatures in this area calculating and validating the findings realised prior to the study.
