Abstract

This research work is on Application of CUSUM Quality Control Chart in Managing Price Variation to Produce Quality in Farm Products. The aim of this study is to explore the application of cumulative sum (CUSUM) quality control chart in managing price variation to produce quality in farm products. The quality of farm products is closely related to the production process and the consistency in meeting customer requirements. Farmers need to ensure that the inputs they use are of good quality, and the production processes are optimized to maintain the desired quality standards. Price variation can disrupt these efforts, as it may lead to changes in inputs or compromises in production processes to reduce costs, which can ultimately affect the quality of the farm products. Price variation has a significant influence on the ability to produce quality farm products. Farmers must strike a balance between cost-effective production and the quality expectations of consumers. Understanding the factors contributing to price variation and implementing appropriate strategies can help farmers navigate the challenges and successfully produce high-quality farm products The data used for this research work is secondary data, which include quarterly price production of food from 2012 to 2022. To determine if the process is in control or out of control, the Central limit of the mean, upper control limit and the lower control limit of individual range chart values as compute. The individual range chart of individual value and moving range of price of food plots shows that the price of foods are stable since the points close to the mean are more than the points that are not close to the mean while the cumulative sum chart of price range plots shows that the cumulative price range are not stable since the points are not within range value.
