PUBLIC RELATION STRATEGIES IN THE PROVISION OF INFORMATION RESOURCES AND SERVICES IN SOME SELECTED PRIVATE UNIVERSITY LIBRARIES IN KWARA STATES
Abstract
Abstract
Library Public relations encompass continuous efforts to maintain a robust public image for the library. The relationship between public relations operations and the functions of the reference librarian in an academic library is examined. The function of the reference librarian as the public relations officer of their library in achieving the library's and institution's objectives is examined. Effective public relations can significantly expedite the library's development cycle, enhance user awareness, and facilitate quick growth. Utilising this power can significantly enhance outcomes if executed with defined aims by the reference librarian, as elaborated in this study. This study also discusses the significance of public relations in an academic library and the tactics employed in public relations. This discourse elucidates the role of a public relations officer in conjunction with that of a reference librarian, as well as the impact of professional variables on the reference librarian's job performance, which can positively influence the library and enhance its reputation.
