Abstract

ABSTRACT This study is carried out to examine the effect of erythromycin in the treatment of inflammation of the skin in General Hospital Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria. Thus, the study was conducted to investigate the effect of erythromycin in the treatment of inflammation of the skin. A descriptive research design of survey type was adopted for the study. Three research questions were raised and answered to guide the study. A sample of fifty (50) respondents were selected at general hospital. The study made use of a well-structured questionnaire to elicit relevant data from the sampled respondents while the data collected was subjected to both descriptive and inferential statistics; frequency count and percentage. Based on the findings, it was recommended among others that there is need for increased surveillance of resistance patterns among bacteria skin pathogens and ensure proper monitoring for clinical failures. Also, tropical antibiotic therapy should be used judiciously and reserved for mild and much localized treatment. And erythromycin should be stored at temperatures below 86 F (30 C). It is important to protect tablets from moisture and excessive heat.
