CARCASS AND ORGAN PARAMETERS OF THREE STRAINS OF BROILER CHICKENS (ROSS 308, COBB 500, MARSHALL) FED A SINGLE TYPE DIET
Abstract
ABSTRACTS
A comparative study was conducted to determine the carcass and organ parameters of three strains of broiler chickens fed a single type diet. A total of seventy-two (72) day old chicks of mix sexes were shared into three treatments and three replicates with eight (8) birds per replicate using a completely randomized design. At the end of the experiment one bird per replicate was selected based on the average weight and slaughtered. The carcass and organ parameters were cut and weighed. The data obtained were subjected to analysis of variance and the significance difference were separated using New Duncan Multiple Range Test. The results of the carcass parameters showed that T2 (Ross 308) was significantly higher ((p
