PHYTOCHEMICAL SCREENING AND ANTIMICROBIAL STUDIES ON METHANOLIC EXTRACTS OFMORINGA OLEIFERASEED
Abstract
Abstract
Many plants of great medicinal values exist in our environment;many have been discovered while many are yet to be discovered.Hence, the seeds of Moringa oleifera were investigated. This was done by drying the seeds at room temperature and the extracting with methanol. The extracts were accessed for its phytochemical composition and antimicrobial, in which the methanolicextracts of the plant ,showed the presence of saponins, alkaloids, flavonoids, phenols, Tannins, and cardiac glycosides. And the antimicrobial test was proven to inhibit the growth of test organisms (Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus).
