Abstract

This study investigated the use of electronic resources and their influence on the academic performance of students in the College of Health Sciences, Benue State University, Makurdi. The study examined the types of electronic resources available, the level of students’ awareness, extent of usage, challenges faced, and possible solutions. Guided by the Connectivity Theory, a descriptive survey design was employed, using a structured questionnaire administered to undergraduate students of the College. Findings revealed that although a wide range of electronic resources such as e-books, e-journals, databases, and online platforms are available, students’ awareness and utilization levels remain relatively low. Major challenges identified include poor ICT skills, limited access to computers, unstable power supply, and inadequate user training. The study recommends increased awareness campaigns, regular training on electronic resource use, improved ICT facilities, and enhanced library support to promote effective utilization. It concludes that optimized use of electronic resources can significantly enhance students’ academic performance and overall learning outcomes.
