Abstract

This study was aimed 1o analyss the proximate composition, clemental and phytochemical analysis of avocado pulp. Avocado pulp is a rich source of nutrients and phytochemicals \hat provide numerous health benefits. The results revealed that the pulp contained 739402 moisture, 4.32+0.1 crude protein, 10.3540.2 crude fat, 1.20£0.01 crude fiber, and 14.8543 5 carbohydrates. Phytochemical analysis showed the presence of flavanoids 0.76+0.56. tannins 0.51£0.03, saponins (ND), alkaloids (ND). cyanogenic glycoside (ND). The elemental composition revealed some levels of potassium 0.324).003, sodium 0.65:0.2, iron 0.52+0.3, and Zinc 0.65:0.07 respectively. These findings suggest that avocado pulp is a valuable source of nutrients and phyochemicals, and its regular consumption may provide several health benefits. The research work was carried out at Central Research Laboratory, Department of Chemiistry, University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) while some of the parameters were done outside the school environment due to unavailability of some equipment.
